Two friends , Maxim Allen-Lan and Connor Kwiecien, started My Friend's Basement Studio in 2022 after they realized comedians and independent creators did not have an affordable, full-service podcast studio in New York City. Seeing the need, Connor converted the extra space in his Brooklyn basement into a fully-functioning, video and audio podcast studio.
The vision was to keep the price the same as going out to dinner twice a week (or once if you're splitting costs with a co-host). Within a year and a half of the first clients coming down the stairs, Maxim and Connor saved up enough to move out of the basement.
Today the mission of an affordable studio for comedians and independent creators lives on our split-tier pricing. On the
booking page, you'll see a competitive price that we provide everyone. Through our
Friends' Program, we accept creators who need an affordable pricing options to get their ideas off the ground.
By working with us, you support independent creators turning their ideas into realities and hopes into careers. Who knows, you might just be supporting and using the same studio as the next great stand-up comedian.
